BertWelcome to feltbetter.com

This is the website for Sue Pearl. I am a felt maker making felt art pieces for craft galleries and running felt making workshops in schools and in adult education centres as well as my own workshops and one-to-one classes. I also give lectures and talks with demonstrations on the incredible history and the craft of felt making.

Making felt is a very ancient craft skill. Felt is used in many places in the world for such diverse items as shoes, tents, carpet, fine clothing, art objects, hats and jewellery. It is such a versatile craft that it will lend itself to many different treatments and new uses for it are being discovered by a new generation of artists and craftsmen.

FrancescaWhy use felt

Felt is an all natural product, easy and fun to make. It requires very little equipment and can be made anywhere, even by the kitchen sink. When children make felt in one of my school workshops or felt making parties their enjoyment is very obvious. Every child achieves. Each piece is unique to them and a work of art.

I work with all age group and across all abilities from special need schools to Independent schools, from local authority adult learning to inset days for teachers. Children at one of Sue's School Workshops
